#CA Legislature continues to drive away CA jobs

#NEW Reuters/Ipsos Polls:

His personal and professional relationships — all undisclosed as he announced the Bureau would not prosecute Clinton — reinforce bipartisan concerns that he may have politicized the criminal probe. These concerns focus on millions of dollars that Comey accepted from a Clinton Foundation defense contractor, Comey’s former membership on a Clinton Foundation corporate partner’s board, and his surprising financial relationship with his brother Peter Comey, who works at the law firm that does the Clinton Foundation’s taxes.

When President Obama nominated Comey to become FBI director in 2013, Comey promised the United States Senate that he would recuse himself on all cases involving former employers.

But Comey earned $6 million in one year alone from Lockheed Martin. Lockheed Martin became a Clinton Foundation donor that very year.

Comey served as deputy attorney general under John Ashcroft for two years of the Bush administration. When he left the Bush administration, he went directly to Lockheed Martin and became vice president, acting as a general counsel.

How much money did James Comey make from Lockheed Martin in his last year with the company, which he left in 2010? More than $6 million in compensation.

Lockheed Martin is a Clinton Foundation donor. The company admitted to becoming a Clinton Global Initiative member in 2010.

According to records, Lockheed Martin is also a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, which paid Bill Clinton $250,000 to deliver a speech in 2010.

In 2010, Lockheed Martin won 17 approvals for private contracts from the Hillary Clinton State Department....

Peter Comey serves as “Senior Director of Real Estate Operations for the Americas” for DLA Piper. James Comey was not questioned about his relationship with Peter Comey in his confirmation hearing.

DLA Piper is the firm that performed the independent audit of the Clinton Foundation in November during Clinton-World’s first big push to put the email scandal behind them. DLA Piper’s employees taken as a whole represent a major Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign donation bloc and Clinton Foundation donation base.

Why Obamacare failed

Obamacare failed because it flunked Economics 101 and Human Nature 101. It straitjacketed insurers into providing overly expensive, soup-to-nuts policies. It wasn't flexible enough so that people could buy as much coverage as they wanted and could afford — not what the government dictated. Many healthy people primarily want catastrophic coverage. Obamacare couldn't lure them in, couldn't persuade them to buy on the chance they'd get sick....

Obamacare failed because too many carriers simply can't cover expenses, let alone turn a profit, in this rigidly controlled system. Take Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, the state's dominant Obamacare insurer. Last year, for every dollar the carrier collected, it spent $1.32 buying care and providing services for customers, according to BCBS President Maurice Smith. No wonder BCBS is proposing rate increases from 23 percent to 45 percent for its individual plans.

A question looms: Is Obamacare plunging in a so-called insurance death spiral? Is the market so unstable that plans are doomed to get more and more expensive, driving more Americans and more insurers out of the market until ... Obamacare thuds to the pavement?...

Will the Media Fact-Check Democratic Dishonesty About Anti-Zika Bill?

ADVERSE SELECTION: A Scary Obamacare Mystery.

...when too few sign up, the insurer has to ask, “Who’s declining to buy insurance?” and the most likely answer is, “Healthy people who don’t expect to use it much.” The remaining pool, then, will be sicker. The lower the participation rate, the more likely it is that you’ve got a small group of people who are going to make expensive claims.

This is a phenomenon known as “adverse selection.” And it tends to get worse as premiums rise to reflect the cost of covering this sicker pool, because more people start dropping the ever-costlier insurance, and usually the folks who drop out are the healthiest ones.

Obamacare’s individual mandate was supposed to prevent this death spiral by levying a tax penalty on those who refused to sign up. But...
Despite the headline, there’s no mystery here. Many of us, McArdle included, explained ObamaCare’s perverse incentives and adverse selection problems ad nauseum even before it was passed into law.

If its supporters still don’t understand why ObamaCare is failing, it’s their own damn fault.

Why are we giving the Saudis $1 billion in weapons with zero debate?

The United States government has an unfortunate history of ill-conceived arms sales to nations around the world. But it’s our longstanding arrangement with Saudi Arabia that has become particularly troubling in recent years.

President Barack Obama’s latest announcement—that he intends to provide the Saudis with a rushed order of over one billion dollars in new weaponry—should provide the impetus Congress needs to seriously reflect on and re-evaluate the nature of our relationship with this supposed ally....

Higher costs and more regulation.

Using Twitter as a guide, the left-wing mainstream media freaked out in real-time last night, and it was glorious. They saw what we all saw: Hillary Clinton looked snippy, angry, old, defensive, shifty, unprepared, and caught off guard; while Donald Trump looked poised, confident, and like a candidate who continues to improve.

That the media is so interested in the "fact" of something Trump said as a private citizen after a year of dancing around Mrs. Bill's numerous faux pas as secretary of State perfectly illustrates just how corrupt they are in the heat of an election. The outrage directed at Lauer merely displays their bias for all to see. It is difficult to determine whether they simply don't care if the public knows they're biased or if they just think the public is stupid.

OK, it's not that difficult.

Trump Stays Presidential

Just as Lauer tried to portray Trump as a loose cannon, he stopped – at least for the time being – giving his enemies ammunition.

The attempt seemed to fall flat because a more disciplined Trump has recently begun coming across in public as more of a presidential figure and less as an eccentric, shoot-from-the-hip billionaire. Trump has helped himself dramatically with his more focused attacks on Democrat Hillary Clinton and his visit last week to Mexico City. The meeting with President Enrique Peña was a public relations disaster for Mexico that has claimed the scalp of at least one government official there.

The forum came hours after Trump delivered a major, serious speech on foreign policy and military matters. He vowed to revitalize the military and pointed an accusing finger at the catastrophic foreign policy course set by President Obama and Clinton, his (Obama's)former secretary of state....

During her half-hour segment at the forum, Clinton, who hasn’t held a proper press conference in nine months, was forced to articulate her views in public. To no one’s surprise, she attacked Trump repeatedly as unpresidential.

"What is Aleppo?"

Yesterday, Gary Johnson had Mitt Romney fighting to get him into the debates. After this morning, his own team might be happier to get excluded. MSNBC’s Morning Joe panel offered Johnson a chance to discuss foreign policy, a particular area of concern for Libertarians. Mike Barnicle wondered how Johnson would handle the massive crisis in Aleppo, Syria — and Johnson had no idea what Barnacle meant

Professors Tell Students: Disagree With Climate Change? Shut Up, Get Out

...three professors from the University of Colorado, who have declared that on the subject of climate change, their students aren't allowed to dissent with their views:
Three professors co-teaching an online course called “Medical Humanities in the Digital Age” at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs recently told their students via email that man-made climate change is not open for debate, and those who think otherwise have no place in their course.
...The email also banned discussion on class message boards, and told students who have a problem with that to drop the class.

First, why is a Humanities course talking about climate change?

Oh, right: Everything must be used to advance the narrative, even if it has no place in the discussion.

While you might expect better from college professors, they either don't know or don't care that their "98 percent of climate scientists" argument has been debunked, junked, and ridiculed for a long time now, and not just by fly-by-night blogs no one has heard of, either.

Donald Trump National Security speech at Philly Union Club: If Trump is sworn in as president, we'll look back at today's speech as a major reason

Hillary Clinton, a candidate without a message or platform to stand on, has just had her legs knocked out from underneath her. On the Friday before a long Labor Day weekend, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released its investigation summary and interview notes with Clinton. The damning revelations undercut her biggest selling point to voters: Her ability to lead.

Since the Republican and Democratic conventions, Clinton has sought to label Donald Trump as lacking the judgement and temperament to serve as commander in chief. In polling, voters have largely seen her as the more reliable candidate. But recent revelations from the FBI, coupled with Trump's recent message discipline, could completely alter the course of the election.

Whether it is gross incompetence, forced amnesia, deep seated corruption or a combination of all three, the released summary and notes from the FBI demonstrate that Clinton does not have the judgement or temperament to be commander in chief. Rather than show leadership, her attempt to cover up for her private email server makes her look more like a clumsy criminal than someone who can be trusted with classified information.

...“Clinton did not recall receiving any emails she thought should not be on an unclassified system,” the FBI’s report on Clinton’s interview states. “She relied on State officials to use their judgment when emailing her and could not recall anyone raising concerns with her regarding the sensitivity of the information she received at her email address.”
This is an astounding claim. As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is one of the handful of US officials with the personal authority to declare information TOP SECRET.

But this hasn't always been her story. Let's go back to October 16 when Hillary Clinton was interviewed by Jake Tapper. The subject of how she handled classified information came up.

JAKE TAPPER: The inspector general of the intelligence community said some of this stuff contained classified information when it was generated whether or not it was marked classified.

HILLARY CLINTON: Well, that is just a very strong difference of opinion. The State Department does not agree with that. And it is almost an impossible standard because we had two separate systems.

We had the unclassified system, so anybody on the unclassified system with the State Department would only be able to tell if something were classified if it were marked classified. We dealt with classified information on a totally different system. Nobody had access to that from an unclassified device.
Now we know this is a total lie. It is balderdash through and through. The reflexively left "Politifact" classified this claim as FALSE
