Remember the Carl DeMaio scandal last cycle? Totally fabricated, probably threw an election. http://t.co/kf69TtGDdn

When former Carl DeMaio aide Todd Bosnich sat down with the FBI last June, he did so as a potential victim, accusing the congressional candidate of sending an email that threatened to end his political career if he continued to spread allegations of sexual misconduct against DeMaio.
On Friday, Bosnich, 29, appeared in San Diego federal court as a perpetrator, admitting he fabricated the email and then lied about it to investigators in an act of revenge against his former boss. He pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of justice.
Bosnich’s instigation of a federal investigation using faked evidence “had the potential to affect a national election,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip Halpern said in San Diego federal court.
DeMaio goes so far as to say it did. He ended up losing the 52nd Congressional District to incumbent Rep. Scott Peters, D-San Diego.
