In a conference call to his biggest supporters Monday morning, Rubio told his top donors that he is running for president because he feels “uniquely qualified” to pitch his Republican Party as one that will defend the American Dream.
According to Rubio’s press team, more than 3,500 supporters had requested tickets by the close of registration for a venue that holds only a thousand.
