President's Message
With members enjoying summer vacations and many clubs going dark during this time of year we can sometimes forget that the critical November election is just around the corner. There are so many things we can do to help our candidates while we are still enjoying the summer season. We have to win big in November and we need to seize some of the opportunities that summer provides to ensure victory.
One of the most important things we can do is work on voter registration. The more Republicans we register, the more votes we ensure for our candidates at the polls. We can take advantage of summer opportunities to increase our Republican voter registration numbers at county fairs, street fairs, farmers’ markets, walking precincts, candidate events, block parties and more. Remember to always keep a supply of voter registration forms in your car. As a good friend once told me you never know where you will find a new Republican so be prepared!
In the past we might have received bounty for our voter registrations, but that is NOT why we go out into our communities. We register more Republican voters to ensure victory for our candidates . We register voters because we must stop the supermajority in Sacramento, win a Republican majority in the US Senate and keep a Republican majority in the House of Representatives. I cannot think of a more important incentive for going out into our communities to register Republican voters than the future of California and America.
Our CFRW Voter Registration Chair, Nancy Comaford, has created an exciting Voter Registration contest to help inspire our clubs and members to work even harder at voter registration. There will be certificates for wining clubs and a trophy to the Division with the highest percentage of registrations. Go to the CFRW website and click on Voter Registration to find all the information and forms you need. Each division has their own voter registration chair to keep track of their division so send your voter registration information to your division chair. They in turn will send the monthly updates to Nancy and she will compile them. We also have the opportunity to appoint CFRW delegates to the CRP by the number of Republican registrations we turn in.
We should not feel defeated or give up because the only way we can win is to stay positive, stay on message, and get out into our communities to educate the voters and register as many Republican as we possibly can! Remember CFRW is not just a political organization we are also a sisterhood. So let’s work together, register voters and work hard to elect our candidates and ensure victory in November. We must keep working until we have a Republican majority in Sacramento and a Republican majority in both the House and Senate to stop the current administration in Washington DC from destroying America. We are Republican women and we Will make a difference in 2014! The future is in our hands!
God Bless You & God Bless America
Thank you for all you do,
Roseann

In a State of Drought
Did you know that now it is illegal to water your lawn more than twice a week? Or that hosing down your driveway or sidewalk is against the law? These new water waste infractions came into effect earlier this week, regulations set forth by the State Water Resources Control Board, prompted by the ongoing drought here in California. Other new offenses include allowing irrigation water to flood off a property, washing a car with a hose not fitted with a shutoff nozzle, and operating a decorative fountain without recirculating the water. These offenses are subject to a fine of $500 a day and apply to both households and businesses. The State Water Board is urging Calfornias to report law breakers to their local water agencies. These new water waste laws will remain in effect for 270 days unless renewed.
