Magnitude 8.3 7.6 quake hits near Solomon Islands, generates tsunami warning
◼ A tsunami warning was issued for the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu, said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. An earlier tsunami watch for Fiji, Australia, Indonesia and nearby areas was cancelled after the earthquake was revised down from its original magnitude of 8.3. -Reuters

◼ A magnitude 6.1 earthquake occurred yesterday at 5:27 pm local time in central America. The earthquake was centered onshore 27 miles NNW of Managua, Nicaragua's capital. The earthquake caused at least one death, 33 injuries and damaged at least 800 structures. A number of aftershocks followed the 6.1 including a 5.1 and several 4s. - Redwood Coast Tsunami Work Group
