In many ways, Carson’s words echo Einstein’s famous quote: “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.”
I have personally experienced so many godly interventions in my life that I would never entertain doubts about His existence and importance. My knowledge of neuroscience and the complexity of the human brain makes it difficult for me to believe that such an amazing organ system could be the result of random mutations of a substance that appeared out of nowhere. The order of our solar system and the universe is so precise that we can predict the occurrence of meteorological and planetary events 70 years in the future. To believe that all of that order just happened requires more faith than I can muster.
