◼ Eureka Republican Women will meet Jan. 22 at the Elks Club at 445 Herrick Ave. in Eureka to hear William Bertain talk about port and rail development in Humboldt County. - Times-Standard
According to a press release, Bertain brings extensive background and expertise to the subject dating back to 1977 and his involvement as a representative for the Humboldt Bar Pilots and for the North Coast Export Company. The latter was a cooperative of more than 10 local sawmills exporting wood chips to Japan.
Members, their guests and interested persons will be welcome to gather at the Elks Lodge beginning at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon. The cost is $12.50 for lunch including tax and tip. Beverage only costs $4.
