Granted, it’s not as if this is a new practice or solely the practice of Democratic administrations, not by a long shot. But I don’t recall seeing so many grossly ignorant nominees put their gross ignorance on display so readily.

...Caroline Kennedy, who doesn't speak Japanese, has no real expertise in Japan and whose sole qualification appears to be her last name, is now U.S. representative to our No. 1 ally in Asia. Tokyo officials took it as a grave insult.

...Colleen Bradley Bell, another big-time Obama campaign bundler and TV soap opera producer ("The Bold and the Beautiful"), is our new ambassador to Hungary. During her hearings, Bell couldn't say what strategic interests, if any, the U.S. had in Hungary.

...In the gaffe department, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland was quoted on the Internet as telling our ambassador to Ukraine, "F*** the EU." Predictably, the EU was outraged.
