CELEBRATING AMERICA’S FIRST WOMAN IN SPACE: 30 years ago today, Sally Ride boarded the space shuttle Challenger at Cape Canaveral, Florida – becoming the first American woman to travel to space. Ride persevered and excelled in her mission as a NASA astronaut, paving the way for women entering the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
This Southern Californian who pushed the physical and societal limits of how far women can go.
